The new 3.2 release fixes this bug.

Also, only if OS=Linux, -f is used in the newer versions. I believe this bug only applies to 3.0, I will close it as soon as 3.2 is available.

I myself noticed this bug while testing under Solaris, and that motivated a change to the default tigerrc settings. As you can see in http://savannah.nongnu.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs/tiger/tiger/tigerrc.diff?r1=1.3&r2=1.4&diff_format=h

In order to avoid this bug, please change in your tigerrc file
Tiger_Output_FQDN=Y
to
Tiger_Output_FQDN=N

I still have yet to add proper code so that the FQDN option works properly (i.e. patch 'config' to use -f when it's necessary and not always).
