This is not an rdiff-backup bug. Rdiff-backup has been successfully tested using Python 2.5.1 and BSD. Also, that is not an error message that any rdiff-backup code produces directly.

There is a problem with your rdiff-backup installation or Python installation. I am closing this bug report. If Googling does not produce the answer, I suggest contacting a Python users mailing list, FreeBSD users mailing list, or the rdiff-backup users mailing list.

Perhaps your old rdiff-backup install still exists somewhere. I suggest searching through the various Python site-packages directories.

PS. This is with Python 2.5.1 on FreeBSD 7.0.

I just upgraded from 1.0.5 to 1.2.0, in the hope of resolving errors from failing backup rollbacks, and now I get a Python import error right at the start:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/server/rdiff-backup/bin/rdiff-backup", line 20, in <module>
import rdiff_backup.Main
RuntimeError: not holding the import lock
