I've added a new bug for the showing of set info of loaded maps/scenarios, because this is something I haven't considered before.

I've added the algorithm headers... I'm not compiling with the latest and greatest gcc yet so I'm bound to run into these problems. Thanks for the heads up.

I've also fixed tile size comobobox so that 40x40 is the default.

The big map being a light grey box is a bug that is intermittent. It is the same bug that makes grey show up after a city window is closed. If the game window is refreshed (e.g. minimized, and then restored), the graphics will come back. I'm not sure how to fix this. I've made another bug for this too.

Hi Ben,

there are some bugs in svn1619.

Bigger ones:
- Missing headers => build fails (s. diff.txt)
- Big map just light grey box (s. bigmap_is_grey.sav.gz)

Small ones:
- 80x80 is preset (should be 40x40)
- Loading a scenario (e.g. punic war) doesn't show right set size in the "New Game" dialog

Greetings

Balemo

Fixed in svn by adding a tile size combobox on the game preferences dialog.

How about another combobox that shows tile sizes:
e.g. 40x40, 80x80

...and when one is selected, the other army, tile, and city set comboboxes are filled with sets of that size.

Thank for requesting my opinion.

I think "theme sets" is a bad idea as well. A theme set can easily be arranged by the user just selecting equal named tile/army/city sets. Further, people like weird arrangements ;-)

Personally, I'm completely satisfied with the normal tile size. For me LordsAWar! makes fun because of strategy, competition and so on. There is no need for too fancy graphics in an exciting game. That's exactly why I still like to play the games of the early nineties.

This is (arguably) not a bug because tile, army, city sets all have to have the same tile dimensions. Mixing and matching isn't possible.

The bigdefault tile/army/city sets were used to debug sets with tile dimensions other than 40x40. Another motivation was that one playtester wanted the graphics to be larger on his system.

Personally I think "big<->normal" is moot now that zoom is working.

Here are some potential solutions:

To close this bug I might just remove the bigdefault tile/army/city sets.

Another solution is to have "theme sets" that are particular aggregations of tile/army/city sets, and the user just picks the named theme. This might not be as familiar to some users, or as extensible.

Another solution would involve showing tile dimensions of tile/army/city sets in the game preferences dialog, and adding extra interactions for disallowing heterogeneous tile dimensions. This seems like overkill.

I'm leaning toward the deletion of the "bigdefault" tile/army/city sets.

What do you think?

Only works if ALL are chosen to be big (and normal respectively), otherwise I'm back on the splash screen.

Suggestion: I think, "big<->normal" should be a separate choice to avoid this. And the drop down menus then only should show the appropriate (working) options.

Question: Why do you have a simply magnified version of the default set as separate set of png-files? Just a placeholder?
