I am running Debian Lenny and Weechat-curses 0.2.6 from Debian's own package has swedish characters working fine both in command line and in xterm and urxvt in X, but when I downloaded 0.2.7 dev version and compiled it, "å ä ö" looks like "M-CM-%M M-CM-$M-CM-6".
I have followed the steps under "Question 2.4 : I don't see some chars with accents, what can I do?" of the FAQ to validate that everything is in order except " setup global decode value, for example: /setp charset.global.decode = ISO-8859-15 " which I could not get working (not the right syntax for 0.2.7?)
I did however see this output was shown in the server window: "charset: terminal: UTF-8, internal: UTF-8" and I also set charset.default.decode = "UTF-8" and charset.default.encode = "UTF-8". Still same result, swedish characters looks the same.
Output of locale gives:
$ locale
LANG=sv_SE.UTF-8
LC_CTYPE="sv_SE.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC="sv_SE.UTF-8"
LC_TIME="sv_SE.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE="sv_SE.UTF-8"
LC_MONETARY="sv_SE.UTF-8"
LC_MESSAGES="sv_SE.UTF-8"
LC_PAPER="sv_SE.UTF-8"
LC_NAME="sv_SE.UTF-8"
LC_ADDRESS="sv_SE.UTF-8"
LC_TELEPHONE="sv_SE.UTF-8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="sv_SE.UTF-8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="sv_SE.UTF-8"
LC_ALL=
I tried version 0.2.7 in console, in xterm and urxvt, and in all three of them swedish chars works fine, just not in weechat 0.2.7 that I compiled myself.
I look forward to this being fixed since it is all that is keeping me from using weechat as my main IRC client. Thank you for a good job this far.
