Indeed, after applying the patch, I can no longer reproduce the bug.
Good job!

Please test that patch. The issue seems related to scaling in gnome canvas. Taking invisible items into account should fix it in gchempaint (hopefully).

Tried with xfce, and still can't reproduce.

As for the bug described in "Step3.jpg", it seems to be a bug on its own, as I can still reproduce it.

As I told you in IRC, it was not a theme related issue.

However, I rebuilt from subversion, and it seems the bug has been fixed. I can no longer reproduce it.

Mario, which theme do you use? Does the issue exists for you for any theme? Just guessing why it does not work for you.

I tried Marios' template.xml in both gchempaint 0.8.7 and trunk and both worked as expected for me.

At the moment, I'm unable to reproduce, things work as expected for me. May be it has been fixed with one of the changes I made these days. Can you test with current svn?

The command to get the 0.10 branch is:
svn co svn://svn.savannah.nongnu.org/gchemutils/branches/gchemutils-0-10/gchemutils gchemutils

When I load the template "Cycle de Krebs -> Fumarate" (from my attached templates.xml file), the molecule loads on the template area as normal, but then starts sliding indefinitely to the right.

Step1.jpg : shows the path of the sliding molecule.
Step2.jpg : notice how much the handler has been reduced in size, suggesting that the molecule keeps moving.

Step3.jpg : Finally, when I try to draw the molecule by clicking in the main drawing window (sometimes I have to draw it twice or thrice in order to reproduce the bug), the bonds disappear and I get the following output in terminal (repeated many times) :
(gchempaint:3917): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: value "inf" of type `gdouble' is invalid or out of range for property `x1' of type `gdouble'

(gchempaint:3917): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: value "inf" of type `gdouble' is invalid or out of range for property `y1' of type `gdouble'

(gchempaint:3917): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: value "inf" of type `gdouble' is invalid or out of range for property `x2' of type `gdouble'

(gchempaint:3917): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: value "inf" of type `gdouble' is invalid or out of range for property `y2' of type `gdouble'
This error does not crash gchempaint, so unfortunately, no backtrace for this report.

I don't think that templates.xml is corrupted, because I can remake a new template of Fumarate and it will still crash.
