I'm aware of the problem you have, but there is no way to delay the suspend/hibernation caused by Fn-F4/Fn-F12 to run additional programs, sorry.

I suggest that you create scripts, that do a virtual eject and then call 'tpctl --suspend'/'tpctl --hibernate'. Possibly you can bind them to a key combination with your window manager.

Sadly, this is not possible. The pressed keys are handled by an embedded controller and the nvram only reflects their state. It is also not possible to write to the nvram and initiate the same action the corresponding key press would cause.

As mentioned before this virtual eject dan be done with configuring apmd.
