This issue has been closed because it hasn't been touched for years, as the development continued on GitHub. If the issue is still present in a recent version, please re-open it under https://github.com/rdiff-backup/rdiff-backup/issues after having made that it's not already reported there.

I can confirm that this is a bug.

It also hurts Windows users badly since all increment files contain the : character, which is escaped on Windows.

If I backup a folder in uppercase from a case sensitive file system to a non-case sensitive file system. I can't restore it.
For example if I backup the "Miscellaneous" folder.

the command:
rdiff-backup backup_dir/\;068iscellaneous Miscellaneous

This does nothing.
