Call to function "PERL_SYS_TERM();" must be done only once for process. So it's called only when exiting WeeChat (/quit) or upgrading (/upgrade).

The error given is:
"panic: MUTEX_LOCK (22) [op.c:453]."
"Callback called exit"
"[1] 20802 exit 255 /usr/local/bin/weechat-curses --dir ~/.config/weechat"

It has been tested by Flashcode and is found only with the perl plugin.
