Totally correct, the 1.0 connections were when I was doing some feed testing yesterday.

Hopefully those HTTP/1.0 connections are from the subscription tool, have you been testing that? It still uses the old StrawURLOpener stuff, but should be the only place to do that, and at least grep doesn't reveal any other locations. HTTP/1.1 is done by the new httplib_async/URLFetch, and yeah, I had forgotten to set User-agent there, thanks for the pointer. Fixed that now.

Looking at my logs, I see the following:

192.168.1.1 - skadz [18/Feb/2003:10:28:36 -0500] "GET /egenblog/index.xml HTTP/1.1" 304 - "http://www.nongnu.org/straw/straw-ref.html?userWeblog=http%3A//www.skadz.com/junt/" "-"

The User Agent is just a dash. That's not very good. I do see some HTTP 1.0 connectins that seem to have it right though, so it looks like it is an issue with just HTTP 1.1
