I have just compiled the latest version from CVS and I can confirm that the problem is indeed fixed through the modification in revision 1.222 of common/phones/atgen.c.

On my machine gnokii --getsecuritycodestatus and gnokii --entersecuritycode PIN work again with the Huawei E220.

Thanks Pawel for the quick turnaround!

I've commited fix to CVS. gnokii now will fallback from +GMM to +CGMM

Modem: Huawei E220
System: Alix (i586)
OS: Fedora Core 10
gnokii source: compiled from .tar.gz

On my system, the two commands gnokii --getsecuritycodestatus and gnokii --entersecuritycode PIN fail in versions 0.6.26 and 0.6.27. They work fine in version 0.6.25.

I have compiled all three versions from the .tar.gz from the gnokii homepage, using the same configuration options (--enable-security).

The difference appears to be in the sequence of AT commands sent to the modem.

Version 0.6.25 (and prior) send the following AT commands during a --entersecuritycode PIN:

Send Receive
---------------------------------------------------------
ATZ ATZ OK
ATE1 ATE1 OK
AT+CMEE=1 AT+CMEE=1 OK
AT+CGMM AT+CGMM E220 OK
AT+CGMI AT+CGMI huawei OK
AT+CSCS? +CSCS? +CME ERROR: 11 (PIN required)
AT+CPIN="xxxx" AT+CPIN="xxxx" OK
---------------------------------------------------------

All well with that sequence.

However, from version 0.6.26 the AT commands are sent like the following:

Send Receive
---------------------------------------------------------
ATZ ATZ OK
ATE1 ATE1 OK
AT+CMEE=1 AT+CMEE=1 OK
AT+GMM AT+GMM +CME ERROR: 11 (PIN required)
---------------------------------------------------------

So, essentially a +GMM instead of the +CGMM.

That fails, and the protocol doesn't expect it to.

I have attached the full system error log from all 3 versions.
