OK, this is a dirty fix, but does the job passably. When the user tires of trying and presses cancel, we display an explanatory message in the error page, explaining that possibly his account has been disabled.

The thing that needs to be done is to catch the unauthorized thing before zope complains back to the browser with errorcode 302 (?). A quick and dirty solution: in CourseManager.redirect_to_kb_on_some_course() do not let zope do the permission checking by itself, but rather do it manually, and then return the obvious stuff in the obvious places. This ofcourse only complains when the user presses the "Log in" button. An other way is to catch the unauthorized thing in standard_error_message, and somehow determine if that particular unauthorized exception should really show the "you are frozen" message, rather than the "you do not have permission to access this object" message. There are perhaps better ways to do this, but I don't know how, and I'm too lazy for for google. ;)

Can we create an own Error: Unauthorized page?
Send mail to frozen user.

If you try to login as a user who has been frozen, you just get the authorization dialog in an infinite loop (i.e. can't login and browser keeps on asking user/pass).
Could we do this in such a way that a frozen user is detected at login time and directed to a single page to which she has access:
Your account has been frozen by the FLE3 system administrator
Please contact <fleadmin emailaddress here> for further information if you think that this is in error.
