The CVS version now support proxies. It first tries to read the info from Gconf, and if that fails, from http_proxy environment variable.

It is not, however, very thoroughly tested, so I'd appreciate feedback. I'm closing this bug for now, but if problems arise, please re-open it (um, if that is possible in Savannah. You could create a new bug, too, I guess :-)

Straw 0.16-0.17 ignore http proxies configured in the gnome control when
started from the menu and also ignore $http_proxy and $HTTP_PROXY
when started from the command line. 0.15 worked fine.
