One shield is a lot better than none. :) A pity about more shields, but it doesn't matter nearly as much anyway.

There used to be some shields there, and they weren't being shown because of a bug. Thanks for bringing this up. The shields that were being shown before are now being shown again.

I lack the mad programming skillz to show something like:
"player <shield> foo takes city <shield> bar."

So right now we're stuck with one shield in an event.

In the original game, there was a shield in front of the event so you knew what nation was involved. There might also have been a shield in front of the second name if applicable. For example, to show whose hero killed whose hero, or to whom a conquered city belonged. I am sure that in the event of declaring war it showed both shield, at least. I'll have to look into the original game to see what exactly they did there if you're interested, although I don't think it really matters. What does matter is that in the current dialog it's not clear what event belongs to whom.

So the most basic and necessary improvement would be the following.

- have at least one shield in front of each event, the shield of belonging to the victorious entity unless that doesn't apply (as in, "Hero was killed in battle").
- if war is declared, have the shields of both involved, meaning that (S) depicts where the shield should be displayed in, for example, "(S) Elvallie is at war with (S) The Sirians"

I suppose you could also consider

(S victorious) Entity conquers (S defeated) city

but that might be taking it a touch too far and become overcrowded in the interface.
