Good idea there. I'm fairly new to the whole building software stuff (except for Java, anyway), so thanks for the tip. You're right that someone who knows how this stuff works can probably write their own shell script in a few minutes as well if they would like to do so and those who don't probably shouldn't be messing about with it to begin with. I used to write .BAT files back in DOS & earlier Windows days, but since XP I sort of forgot about it - that is to say, my usage at the time didn't require it. Let's forget about this "bug", then. :)

You might also consider building the sources "out of tree". Like so:

$ cd lordsawar/trunk
$ ./autogen.sh
$ cd ../..
$ mkdir lordsawar.build
$ cd lordsawar.build
$ ../lordsawar/trunk/configure
$ make -j2

Why do this? It makes programs like "diff" work better because there aren't .o files lying around.

I'm not too keen on including the script... I want developers to join who already know what to do when they see a configure.ac file.

Where it says

The source can be checked out with the command:
svn checkout svn://lordsawar.com/lordsawar/
You may also download the developmental or stable tarball [20 MB].

you could add a download link to the attached script. Or not, whatever. I wrote it so I could quickly update to the latest version from SVN - aside from the time spent compiling, that is. Although there is the issue that you'd have to run autogen.sh first... hmm, I suppose I didn't think this quite through, but here's the idea and a beginning for a shell script anyway.
