I see.

And my problem has been solved by the `FT_LOAD_IGNORE_GLOBAL_ADVANCE_WIDTH' flag.

Thank you.

There is a change in the different font versions. Older versions
of msgothic.ttc haven't set the `isFixedPitch' flag in the
`post' table for face index 0 (which is a bug), while newer ones
have it.

Consequently, FreeType reports the same width for all glyphs in
the new version.

The proportional glyphs are in face index 1.

The attached simple test program loads a glyph of '1'(0x31) and show face->glyph->advance.x value. And execution result (on cygwin + ft2.3.8) is as follows:

;; 1)msgothic.ttc(face-index:0) (shipped with windows XP)
$ ./ft2test msgothic.ttc
32

;; 2)msgothic.ttc(face-index: 0) (shipped with windows7)
;; I think 64 is too wide advance.x of '1'.
$ ./ft2test /cygdrive/c/Windows/Fonts/msmincho.ttc
64

  • It seems that windows7's msgothic.ttc is different from windows XP's msgothic.ttc.
  • Is this a bug of ft2.3.8 or specification?
