This appears to be fixed as of Debian Squeeze. gNewSense 3 will pick up the fix once it's re-based off of Squeeze.

so .sudo_as_admin_successful exist after the first attempt?

if you remove the file does it die again?
if yes, could you run whatever command is set by 'root terminal' in a term after removing that file?

I did a fresh install on the Yeeloong just now. First application I started when I first logged in was Root Terminal. I was asked for a password and then a terminal was started. So no problem there.

I also did some more testing on i386. The problem happens for every new account. I make a new user account with the GNOME user management tool, I add it to the same groups as the default account and give it the same sudo rights with visudo. I log off and log in with the new account and try to start Root Terminal. It fails in the same was as with the first account. And likewise it also works from the second attempt on.

Hi sam,

On my side the root terminal run without asking permission if I have done it for another app some minutes before.

It appear immmediatly, but take a long time to finish to start full.

After, all thing seems to be ok.

I just did a fresh install of metad i386. I boot it for the first time, log in and start Applications -> Accessories -> Root Terminal. I get the "Granted permissions without asking for password" dialog box, but no terminal. I click the Close button on the box and try to start Root Terminal again. This time I get the (expected) "Enter your password to perform administrative tasks" dialog box. I enter my password and now the root terminal does appear (no "Granted permissions" box). I close the terminal window and when I start Root Terminal again I get it without being asked for a password (as expected) and with the "Granted permissions" box.

I reboot and start Root Terminal again right after login. Like the second time I started it, I get asked for a password and the terminal just starts.
