As a work-around we can probably remove all these packages at and rebuild them at their current version.
This will clean out the dirs, and anyone who already has the package won't re-download it until a new version anyway.

I tested these changes on my local box and I got the desired result at least for thunderbird. But I suspect that we will only see effect on archive.g.o if we bump the _VERSION of every package that has a version in hardy-updates. As far as I can see they are:

app-install-data-ubuntu
base-files
epiphany-browser
gnome-desktop
gnome-panel
linux
module-init-tools
python-apt
texlive-base
thunderbird
ubiquity
yelp

Should be fixed in bzr 361, confirm after next buildd run. (T-5.5 hours).

ensure_updated does add_package, but I think we need a "reprepro remove" in there too. I forgot what the one in '== "updates"' is for, but that's irrelevant, I guess.

Builder seems to be leaving upstreams packages in the package pool before syncing. this means we are publishing proprietary software by accident on our mirrors (users pick up our gNS versions of packages, so thankfully its not contaminating systems).
