By default, MaxOpenGLTexture is set at 512 as it seems to solve problems in many systems.

Thank you for the report.

Follow up:
I now use this in the preferences.lua file:

MaxOpenGLTexture=512
UseOpenGL=true

The scrolling is regular thanks to the
MaxOpenGLTexture=512 setting; without this setting I still see a irregular scrolling on the big patch of the obese map.
So, I can confirm that the MaxOpenGLTexture=512 setting is an improvement in my case.

The flashes were not reproducable at all - the next day they were gone.

For my system, there is no noticeable gain in using OpenGL, it is the same speed - I guess my hardware is not that fast.

Can you try by configuring a smaller MaxOpenGlTextureSize as posisble since r9662 ?

On second thought...

Scrolling from the top left to the bottom right is much faster without OpenGL than with.
And with OpenGL active, the scrolling is not so regular. I see flashes on the screen - horizontal lines.
Starting the editor (for the Obese map) takes so long that I thought it crashed - the screen stays black very long.
Also starting up boswars shows these flashes while the blue boswars name is shown in the middle of the screen.

What svn version should I go back to, to test if it is related to the latest changes?

Hi Kalle,

My version is 9654.
But I now see that I did not run scons after updating...

Now it works OK!
Hence this bug was already fixed before I found it.

Sorry - thanks.

What is the revision number of the "current svn version" you're using? Revision 9653 on Tuesday was intended to fix the stretching (bug #28728). If you're already using a later revision, could you try an earlier one too?

Scrolling wrong for OpenGL with 8192x8192 patch

When I load the map "Obese" in the current svn version of Boswars, then in the half of the screen there is a very weird scrolling effect: the left or top half of the bitmap gets more and more stretched while scrolling towards the middle.

This effect is only visible with OpenGL is on.
It happens in the editor as well as during playing.

My system is at 1440x900 screen resolution, running Boswars full screen.
openSUSE 11.1 (x86_64)
Linux 2.6.27.42-0.1-default x86_64

I do not think this depends on my graphics hardware, but anyhow, here are my specs: Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc, Model: ATI Mobility Radeon X1350 (M62 7196), Driver: fglrx (3D Support).
