Looks like the hook up for the external idle reporting isn't working (it's not based on the X display or screensaver extension
anyway).

Will take some time to track down, set it to internal idle reporting for now and things should mostly work.

Not really sure the OS/External display idle detection works,
will investigate.

In my garak-prefs I have the following.

idle_reporting : [external (OS/display)]

And I also have set to go auto away after prolonged idleness. I however always go idle after the time period for "auto away after" expires - it doesn't matter if I'm active in the OS or even in Emacs. I become available only after I send messages. Seems to me like some bug in the libpurple integration layer, though you probably know best.
