Your example.ics (file #22215) doesn't segfault for me, I just added END:VCALENDAR to make it valid.
Only now I noticed that your gnokii.log output shows a mix between /usr/local/ and /usr
> Reading symbols from /usr/local/bin/gnokii...done.
[...]
> Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
> 0x00173756 in ?? () from /usr/lib/libgnokii.so.6
you can retry the configure step of your git copy adding --enable-shared=no so that gnokii will be statically linked to the version of libgnokii compiled from the same source tree, then I hope you can get a backtrace with symbols. Can you try that?

gnokii (both the vanilla installation in Ubuntu 10.10 and 0.6.30git, which I didn't manage to remove with a `sudo apt-get --reinstall install gnokii-cli`) won't write any of my calendars created with Thunderbird's Lightning extension. I've tried with at least six separate files, and all result in a segmentation fault. I tried to follow the Segfault wiki page, but even though it was compiled with --enable-fulldebug it included very little in the stack trace.
Some system information:
$ file $(which gnokii)
