This was caused by a change of the UUID of the swap partition.

Manual fix:
1) sudo blkid | grep swap
2) Copy the UUID and use it to overwrite the UUID in /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume.
3) Run 'update-initramfs -k all -u'.

Alternatively, instead of (1) + (2) you can just delete /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume. Hibernate doesn't work on my machine, so I can't test if this would break resuming.

I don't know if we (or Ubuntu) caused the UUID change or if it was caused by installing another operating system on the same machine. I don't immediately see a good way to fix this and don't see anything in Ubuntu's Hardy+ changelogs that we could backport. I'm not going to spend more time on it than that.

The current gNewsense Splash Screen appears to be disabled. During the boot-up process, verbose mode is present up to the login screen.
