M4 is a language. Autoconf uses it, so I don't have to. :-)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M4_%28computer_language%29

aclocal.m4 is just a collection of m4 routines that autoconf needs to do it's job. It's all part of the larger task of creating a configure script that will run on many different unixoid platforms.

Thanks Ben!

It's the first time I got this message:

LordsAWar! is now configured. Type 'make' to compile it.

Configuration:
Installation location : /usr
Editor compilation : yes
Play-by-mail : yes
Sound support : yes
Game-list Server : yes
Game-host Server : yes

Extra Options:
Compiler Optimizations: yes

By the way, what's "aclocal.m4" ($ aclocal -I m4)?

You must use ./autogen.sh instead of autoreconf. That is why you get the po/Makefile.in.in error.

I have committed the missing file that were preventing it from compiling for you. It compiles for me now. Sorry about that.

Also there's no point in trying `make install', if the `make' doesn't succeed.

Hi,

I just wanted to compile the game again. I think it works, but I am not sure.

What did I do?
$ svn update
Revision 2508.
$ make clean
http://pastebin.com/YxAuLw6b - Line 21: "Target Pattern doesn't contain a %. Stop."
$ ./configure --prefix=/usr
http://pastebin.com/8YXrWdiF - Line 196: "config.status: error: po/Makefile.in.in was not created by intltoolize."
$ make
http://pastebin.com/rvuBdhSr
$ sudo make install
http://pastebin.com/j0AMw5qA

In po/Makefile.in.in I found this line:
# Origin: gettext-0.18

I have the following software:
intltool - Version: 0.41.1-1
make - Version: 3.81-8
gettext - Version: 0.18.1.1-1ubuntu2

Perhaps this Bugreport could help: https://bugs.launchpad.net/intltool/+bug/654918

Cheers,
Martin
