After I closed an IRC buffer (with /buffer close), WeeChat reopened it to print a join message. The nicklist contained only one nick : the nick of the person who had just joined the channel. When I closed the buffer for the second time, the server told me "#channel : you are not on that channel" so it seems the first call to /buffer close make me part from the channel as expected.
