Thanks for the bug report.  The problem has been introduced five years ago and should be fixed now.

Please test.

  1. Extract the file courR24.bdf from the archive [1].
  2. Execute { ftview courR24.bdf; }

Result:

    could not find/open any font file
      error = 0x0001
