@var@(skip)x is a degenerate form. I will not fix this aspect. Whatever the user wants to do by this is expressed by @{var}x.

The error being thrown is a real bug. The horizontal skip directive is returning t for the position, which is inherited from vertical skip.

Txr throws a type error on '@var@(some)x'. More disturbingly, this has no hope of working right because in the internal syntax, the some directive is subsumed into the var, but the trailing material is not.
