Thanks for your report. I've committed a fix for this, and the next tarballs I send to the Translation Project (hopefully very soon) will have suitable plural forms support.

* libdb/db_lookup.c (split_data): Use ngettext to translate strings
containing plural forms (Savannah bug #34968).
* src/lexgrog.l (too_big): Likewise.
* src/mandb.c (main): Likewise.
* po/man-db.pot, po/*.po: Update.

Following strings require to use ngettext instead gettext due plural forms:

"only %d fields in content" (2× libdb/db_lookup.c)

"warning: whatis for %s exceeds %d bytes, truncating." (src/lexgrog.l)

"%d man subdirectories contained newer manual pages.
%d manual pages were added." (src/mandb.c)

"%d stray cats were added." (src/mandb.c)

"%d old database entries were purged." (src/mandb.c)
