I can't seem to reproduce it on either of the first two turns, I'm definitely washing out when I should there. So yeah, I think you're okay to close this.

Your observation is probably correct but the conclusion isn't. The contact detection between the ground and the wheel should be pretty accurate but there's another rather embarrassing issue which I hoped would go unnoticed.

The visible road surface has nothing to do with the physical road object used for collision detection, it's just a texture superimposed on the surrounding terrain. Due to the relatively low resolution (which is deceptively hidden by the per-pixel detail texture mixing and which you can witness by starting with -Otoon I think) the road texture does not entirely match the underlying physical model everywhere.

You can see this by starting Slipstream with -Odrawvolumes which draws the various physical bodies used in the simulation. This will draw the actual road surface with red lines. The error is relatively minor usually and can presumably be made smaller by better mixing and application of the terrain texture.

Let me know if you think that what you observed is something different from this, otherwise I'll close the issue.

Heh, reproducing this doesn't seem to be working for me. Maybe there is a touch of sour grapes about missing an apex here. :-)

For the current CVS, the grip selected (e.g. grass vs tarmac) by the program appears to be directly underneath the rider viewpoint, rather than out at the wheels. I don't have any hard data, I'll try to record a clip where I wash out by hitting the grass with an external view.
