By now, NVIDIA 3D Vision is obsolete again...

The best way to use 3D Vision glasses is with a Quadro card that supports OpenGL stereo. This should already work fine.

For "normal" graphics cards, we now have an alternating left/right view output mode which can drive active-stereo 120Hz displays. The only thing that is missing is to sync the 3D Vision shutter glasses to the vertical sync of the display.

This may even be possible without direct support in Bino, using something like the test_vsync tool from libnvstusb. (Of course, if this works it can also be integrated into Bino for convenience).

Usually, the problem is, that under windows they use DirectX and OpenGL stereo support is only available on Quadro graphic cards. A solution for this might be a project like http://code.google.com/p/stereowrap/ . Unfortunately, I did no have the time to check if this might be useful, yet.

I totally agree with this request even if you use your own code base. nVidia 3D Vision is the best option for Windows users. Through it you can play 3D video directly without needing to switch the display/TV from 2D-to-3D back and forth (You just play it and it get detected automatically). Would really appreciate any effort in this direction.

I find great post by Bob Somers, http://users.csc.calpoly.edu/~rsomers/cpe572/
He reverse-enginered win driver for Nvidia 3D Vision, and create demo https://github.com/bobsomers/3dvgl and library http://sourceforge.net/projects/libnvstusb/ for accessing the NVIDIA 3D Stereo Controller.

Please, add support this controller in Bino linux package

Best regards

file #34711:  3dvision.patch added by None (13KiB - text/x-patch - There's a segfault in nvstusb just after loading the firmware for the first time, but subsequent runs will work. Works best with realtime scheduling and priority (chrt -r 99 bino <video file>). Apart from those caveats, enjoy.)
