When you open a directory /foo containing a file /foo/bar.txt in ranger, then do something like "mount /dev/sda1 /foo", ranger will show the content of sda1 now, but the current working directory of ranger will remain at the original /foo. If you type "!rm bar.txt" now, the original /foo/bar.txt is removed even though it is not displayed in ranger.
