[field #13] Summary: Real download, not just in /tmp
[field #14] Original Submission: In my experience Linterna Magica downloads a video in /tmp. This is very inconvenient because / may be full up after a while and also you'd have to move your videos from /tmp to your home dir.

My request is that we can download in the folder we choose or at least in Firefox's download folder.

Moreover, once the video starts it is impossible to download it using Unplug (addon) but this may be due to Unplug alone.

As for Unplug, it must be me then. I've tried on various version of Firefox and GNU/Linux distros and destop environment. I can't make Unplug work: the files are listed but the download buttons are greyed.

Many thanks for your help, valkov. Right-click on the download button works fine.

I'm able to download a clip with Unplug while Linterna Mágica is running. Check the attachment.

Hi,

If you are talking about the "Save the video clip" link/button at the top bar of Linterna Mágica, there is really no issue. If you choose "Save link as" when right clicking the link/button the new dialog allows you to save the clip wherever you like. Clicking the link with the left mouse button just loads the URL in the browser, which calls the browser video plugin, which on its turn downloads the clip in /tmp while playing it.

The other possibility is you are talking about clips being saved during playback. As far as I know this can not be controlled as it is up to the browser video plugin to download the clips in /tmp while playing them.

In both cases there is no control from Linterna Mágica's point of view. There is simply no way to access this functionality from a JavaScript running inside the page. Otherwise this will turn into security issue and will be accessible from every script. A year ago I've investigated ways to control the save as dialog from JavaScript, but I ended up empty-handed.

If my response is helpful, please clarify that I can close the bug report. If I did not understand you correct, please provide more information.

Thanks.
