Comments suggest that the usefulness of this is dubious, and odd/even line 3D displays are obsolete now anyway.

I will agree that there is no convincing evidence that doing this increases the quality of the percieved image. Most reviews I have seen prefer the passive FPR displays over the active ones, but apparently both have deficits and advantages. I find the passive display to be pretty good, but with the annoying restriction on the vertical angle. But this is because it is only 23 inches which makes the tolerances too tight so a deviation in the vertical mixes the R & L.

If a program implemented the switching between odd/even lines in the display and it were switch selectable, it might be possible to do some good tests to see if it makes a difference. But until then, we will probably not know. One might be able to see an effect on static images such as 3D slides.

I suspect that implementing this might be difficult. With the support for 3D slides Bino is advancing on multiple fronts.

Actually, it would be possible to do it in Bino. Here's a description of how it works:

However, this LG hack is a marketing thing, and is mainly caused by Sony and Samsung marketers claiming that LG is not full HD.
No reliable (i.e. scientific) study proves that the perceived quality is that of a full HD stereoscopic display.

LG Passive 3DTVs with newer firmware can alternate the odd/even lines of each eye view so that you can see something like 1080P FullHD 3D. The tv does this internally and only when you feed it with 1080P frame sequential material (software or OpenGL hardware pageflipping) or with HDMI 1.4 3D connection. Any other input such as side by side or Over/Under will make the TV work in "plain 3D" mode. There isn't something that Bino can do for this, since it's an internal TV function and depends solely on the TV and its firmware. The only thing you can do is choose Left/right alternating view (software pageflipping) and feed the TV with FullHD 1080P alternating views. If your TV is an LG, you can select frame sequential as input signal from the 3D activation menu.

Bino player doesn't have an overlay menu function. The same applies for Stereoscopic Player and Nvidia 3D Vision Player. The only player capable of overlay menu is Sview Player. It would be a great addition for Bino, such a pop up menu when the cursor moves at the bottom of the screen or a right click menu, but i think it would need a lot of work to implement. Personally, i have no problem except when i want to go to a specific point in the movie where i have to exit fullscreen, go to that point and then go again in fullscreen.

According to what I have read the FPR TVs (odd/even line 3d) often display both alternatives. In other words it displays both the odd and even lines of each 3D frame by alternating them. This has been claimed to make the picture look better. In particular fine detail is apparently more visible, and the jagged lines are smoother.

Is it possible to have BINO do this, or is it already done? It would not be reasonable for 480i interleaved 3D, and it might be only marginal for 720p 3D, but it would probaby be helpful for 1080 3D. But the programming for this most probably is more complicated to turn it off and on depending on the input. But a switch to change it might be useful.

While at it, Is there any easy way to control the playback while in full screen mode? The controls do not seem to pop up by moving the mouse to the bottom, and right clicking does not bring up any controls. OK, I found the keyboard controls, but I really hate learning different keyboard controls for each program. So a right click menu would be fantastic. For example 3d Photo maker uses spacebar to advance to the next picture and you use it for pause. 3D photo maker uses arrow keys to adjust r-L stereo image alignment... At least a right click menu could tell the user the keyboard controls. At least a balloon when hovering over the button with the keyboard controls specified would be helpful. Actually I do not like single key controls because it is too easy to accidentally activate them when you think you are typing into a text box. Esc, function keys, and ctrl or alt keys are OK with me because they are seldom accidentally pushed.

At present I do not have the local help file because I am running 1.3.5 and am waiting for the 1.4 Win distribution to be available.
