I made a temporary fix. I put the result returned by magic['linux'] in a 'generic' field, not in 'keywords'.
I disabled the 'publish' operations associated with these items.

I kept all the other fields returned by magic['circle'].
However, since this information is inaccurate, for the moment, a client should display the information in the 'generic' field if it is available, and it should fallback to the other fields if it not.

the information for mpg files (width & height fields)
is wrong too, as well as for jpeg files (some of them are classified as PDFs)

magic.circle is a magic file (ie a file which can be used with /usr/bin/file to classify files) that I wrote for circle. This is what is within the magic['circle'] dictionnary. It contains a description of most multimedia files and its output is easier to parse than magic or magic.mime, the two files provided with the program file.

Currently circle displays both the result of both magic file (magic.circle and magic). Circle should only use one magic file, magic.circle, which result can be parsed to be included into the user interface.

However this file may not be perfect it is a mix between magic.mime and magic .. I done my best but it probably have some flaws.

The magic information should be published as a separate "attribute" to allow search on content type (which is the reason why I wrote all this code in the first place :-) ).

ok, I circle does not display that info for the moment.
but it does publish it, so read 'publish' instead of 'display' in the above report

The bitrate and frequecy values for mp3 files that are displayed by circle on my system are really, really strange...
here is an example:
{'generic': 'MP \x08 \x083 \x08, 32 kBits \x08, 32 kBits \x08, 44.1 kHz \x083 \x08, 8 kBits \x08, 22.05 kHz \x08, JStereo', 'misc': 'JStereo', 'rate': '8 kBits', 'mime': 'audio/x-mp \x08 \x083', 'freq': '28681/Hz'}

The information in 'generic' results from magic['linux'] and is correct: the file is 32kBits and 44.1kHz (according to mpg321)

However, circle displays the info in the other fields, which is not the same: 8kBits, 28681Hz... this info it is returned by magic['circle'].

does somebody know what the hell this means? why is it so? is this info correctly displayed on other systems?
