Works with model set to series40. I really appreciate the quick help. Am opening another bug in which sendsms comes out with success but I do not see the sms in either the Sent folder of this phone or on the other end.

Thanks for the quick response. What is the model parameter value I should use in the file .gnokiirc. Also when I comment out rfcomm 14, it comes out with error. With rfcomm 14, it does start sending the message at least, however at the phone I can see it saying that the bluetooth connection is disconnected. I did try gammu today and it gets the phone details properly but does not say whether it is symbian or not.

First, your phone does not qualify for symbian model. Second, are you sure rfcomm channel 14 is correct? AFAIR if you will leave it out it will get autodetected.

When I issue the command gnokii --identify, it comes out with error :

The phone uses Bluetooth.
I have attached the gnokiirc file and I am running as root. The Bluetooth pairing seems to be OK.
