The survey code is removed as the survey is over. I'm considering the issue non-existent. If you still face difficulties, please reopen the bug report or submit a new one. Thank you.

No problem. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't due to some changes in the script or TM (Filed a bug there too but soon it was ruled out that it might be a TM bug)
Thanks.

Hi,
It should be the object tag with the survey. As I've said in my last comment, this would be fixed when the survey code is disabled after 15th of February. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi,
Now it does works.
Now the url in the address bar after clicking "Back to Linterna Mágica website" is http://linterna-magica.nongnu.org/nosurvey.html
But sometimes clicking ""Back to Linterna Mágica website" still shows the url http://linterna-magica.nongnu.org/
even though the actual page displayed is the LM website. When this happens TM install doesn't work (but GM works in FF no matter which url is shown)
I don't think LM itself or TM has any problem.
Thanks.

Hi,
I suspect it has to do something with the object tag that holds the survey page. Any problems if you open the page without the survey directly? [1] Clicking the "Back to Linterna Mágica website" link on the survey should execute a JavaScript code that should escape the object tag and render the page without the survey [1] and its URL should be visible in the address bar of the browser.
If it is the survey code that causes the problem, I'm afraid there is nothing to be done. The survey will end at the 15th of February and this code will be removed from the page. Other than that I am 99% sure there is nothing in the web page and Linterna Mágica that would break the installation in Tampermonkey.

Hi, I accessed the download button after exiting the survey.
Tried today and even in firefox the Savannah url doesn't display any more (after clicking the download button) but LM install fine.
In Chrome it doesn't work, it just downloadewd the script.

Any chance the survey code object tag is still present and the whole page loads still in it? If so visiting an external link from Linterna Mágica's website should still show http://linterna-magica.nongnu.org/ in the address bar. There are enough external links, just pick any. Though the link "Back to Linterna Mágica website" on the survey results page should trigger the JavaScript code to exit the object/frame. If every page is rendered in the object tag at the bottom of the window there might be a back line/bar.

Yeah, in the Ubuntu installation (where install works) chrome's address bar does show savannah's url after clicking download. so it sounds like some problem with my copy of chrome in Fedora.

Hmm... I don't know. This is very strange because in firefox clicking the download link the address bar shows the savannah mirror's url but in chrome it doesn't and if I cut and paste the savannah url from Firefox into chrome then it works. Otherwise it doesn't.
It seems that this is only happening in Fedora. In Ubuntu I am able to install by just clicking the download link though sometimes it fails too, I should check the url display there.
Thanks.

Hi,
I don't get it. The second link is the one that should be visited to install Linterna Mágica. The main page (http://linterna-magica.nongnu.org) links to a second page for every version similar to the one in your comment. Every "Userscript (not compressed)" link points to such second page. It was never possible to install directly form the http://linterna-magica.nongnu.org/. Yes there is the survey code at the front page at the moment, but if you've answered the questions or didn't, you should be able to visit the results page. There is a link that points to version of the web page without the survey code. This page links to the installation page.
How exactly are you trying to install from the main page? The installation should trigger when you open the userscript file/URL, not the domain/the main web page.

Hi,
ATM it doesn't work with http://linterna-magica.nongnu.org/
but it does with
http://download-mirror.savannah.gnu.org/releases/linterna-magica/linternamagica-v0.0.13.user.js.html
This is for the stable version.

Hi,
The interface changes you describe are part of the survey currently running. It will be over at 15th of February, when the website will render as usual. I am unaware how any change of the website could affect the installation process.
Since you are able to begin the installation process you are able to reach the part of the website without the survey code, so it could not be the survey. At least not from my understanding. Next, every version of the userscript has its own dedicated page on the main Savannah/nongnu.org domain and its mirrors. From this dedicated page the installation actually starts. As far as I know, at least in Greasemonkey, the only significant thing that matters for the installation is the meta-header in the userscript itself.
For the latest version, the only change in the meta-header is the addition of the @grant rule, because newer versions of Greasemonkey complain about it.
No changes were made in the website between your comments.
Are you able to install the userscript if it is downloaded to your computer and accessed from the browser/tampermonkey?
The download page for the uncompressed userscript is always pointing to the Savannah/nongnu servers, but the actual userscript is downloaded from a Savannah mirror server. This might be the problem. At the download page there is a direct link for the userscript pointing to the nongnu.org server. I think the mirror server is different for every connection. Are you able to install from the direct link?
Are you able to install older versions without problems?
As far as I know except the meta-header in the userscript, there is no other way for me to do something about the installation process. And still the two things I can do are to have a valid meta header, hence a normal install, or a broken one - no installation at all.

Several hours after I submitted the bug, it is working again. It happened on and off like that for the last week or so, which is why I think maybe you have been tweaking the website.

LM works perfectly in chrome even though it is not a supported browser, but I am having problem installing it with tampermonkey since a few days ago. Go to LM's website to download the script (uncompressed). The script should open in TM and a dialogue box should open asking the user if he/she wants to install the script. But as of a few days ago chrome just downloads the script with a warning that "apps, extensions and user scripts cannot be added from this site".
Since this only happens after the recent changes in LM's site and only happens sporadically (sometimes it works) I think it may be due to some testings going on in the website, just want to bring that to your attention. I have filed a bug with TM as well but I suspect it is not the problem.
Thanks.
