Evermore devices are actually supposed to run in NMEA mode; we get better error modeling (via DOP computations) that way.

What you were seeing was the packet analyzer flapping between binary and NMEA modes after detecting that the device is an Evermore. I've fixed this in the repository head version and verified that I can see fix data in NMEA mode.

This should fix your bug.

it looks like the support for the Evermore binary protocol is broken. My GPS receiver is called GM-R307 and uses firmware version 05.42g. I have attached a debug log which shows the continuous switching between NMEA and Evermore:
