It is indeed working properly. I wanted to print something during canvas initialization but in that case the messsage board is not yet created.

Please check that again. It is most definitely working for me.
Check with a command 'pyformex --redirect' started from a terminal.

Note:

--redirect is not the default anymore when the gui is
loaded, so the '--redirect' has to be added.

If neither --redirect nor --noredirect are given, the configuration value 'gui/redirect' is used (it can be set from the settings dialog).

If you use desktop start buttons, you can/should add the --redirect to the command line for that button.

The output is not redirected to the message board anymore. It is displayed in the terminal both for options redirect and noredirect.
