I use v2.5-3 on woody, I have 200MHz, 128MB RAM and 128MB Swap. After approx. 24h mldonkey it consumed 160MB and 91% of cpu time.

I had 2.02-29 installed before and it was satisfied with about 30-40MB. Which is the latest version that is not that greedy?

I noticed this too, ram usage starts with about 100 MB and goes up to 290 MB when the machine starts crawling on it's knees.
I disabled gnutella, bittorrent and soulseeker without any noticeable change.
CPU usage is rather high, too (80% and 400 mhz cpu)
I am using the current cvs version from a checkout 07/02/2003

I noticed the same behavoir. MLNet uses about 70% of my RAM. I´ve 30GB in Queue, connected to 5 servers, but only 20 downloads active, 40 others are paused. Memory seems to be allocated when the file md4´s are loaded/processed.
Any idea? No other p2p client uses 200mb RAM just for hashes etc :-)

on my linux server mlnet takes within seconds all the memory(64MB). This happes also without connecting to any net and without downloading files(There 8 downloads which I paused, some with many sources(about1000)). The system is then swapping so the harddisk is running all the time.
