Debian Derivative Guidelines [1] says:

If your derivative contains popcon 1.58 or later, it will send the [54]dpkg vendor field in popcon reports. If you are using an earlier versions of popcon, please add a suffix containing your distribution name to the popcon version numbers so that Debian has a way to differentiate popcon submissions by Debian users from submissions by users of derivatives.

gNewSense has version 1.49, so we should add a suffix, i.e. gnewsense1.
