Is it possible to have a 'npre' parameter to define the initial total number of points to be called also from approximate. there is a similar 'npre' parameter in approximate though it has a different meaning because is for the preapproximation per parts.

Also there a 'div' parameter in atChordal which is not used, and i am not sure if it was intended for the same porpuse.

And maybe is it possible to also specify a maximum and a minimum segment length for the approximation?
