SD cards have a physical switch on the side of them that toggles between read-only and read-write modes. Considering that all the files on it show up as read-only, I think the switch on your SD card is set to read-only.

Will your computer be able to boot from an SD card anyway? Some firmwares support this, but I am not sure how common it is, particularly on older computers.

If you can get your old computer to boot from an SD card, you can add the 'noacpi' kernel argument to the end of the line starting with 'linux' in the file grub2/grub.cfg on the second partition of the SD card (or USB drive, if that's what you end up using). You'll have to manually mount the second partition because automount systems will ignore it because the partition type code is EF (EFI System Partition).

Hi!

Please also have a look at http://mixxx.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7031&p=24331&hilit=Crossfade+GNU/Linux+0.90#p24331 where I'll be posting some general comments. When booting old Pentium 4 Compaq Presario with Crossfade live DVD, I had to use command noaipc to get it to boot. Then, when attempting to run the USB install script from desktop under sudo, I received the following errors:

Installing Crossfade GNU/Linux. This will take a few minutes. Do not remove /dev/sdb until installation finishes.

Thumb drive (actually an SD card in a card reader) was formatted in FAT (32?) on a MAC and currently has some files on it, including the Crossfade torrent download. Would love to configure it as abootable disk. All files on it show as locked and I am unable to change the permissions on it using file manager.

Thanks!
