I checked the code, you can just configure so that the goffice plugin is installed where you want:
./configure --with-goffice-plugins-dir=/tmp
or whatever you want, may be /dev/null would work too (I didn't test).
I feel that this issue is fixed.

I see, may be I should make the goffice plugin optional. Installing it in .goffice would probably not help since libgoffice does not load plugins from there. Anyway, the plugin just allows embedding some chemistry in abiword and gnumeric.

When installing gchemutil version 0.14.11 under OpenSuSE 13.2, I found the following problem:

The build process was done a normal user and configured to install in a user directory.
libgoffice (and some other support software) was already installed in the standard place (done with yast a long time ago).
Make command runs OK, "make install" reports an error, because it can not access /usr/lib64/goffice/0.10/plugins/gchemutils/gchemutils.so
Indeed, directory /usr/lib64/goffice/0.10/plugins is owned by root (group root) - probably owing to the fact that it was installed through yast - with mode 700. The reason for the mode bit setting is probably the fact that the umask on this system is set to 077. Interestingly, gchemutils subdirectory has the same access restrictions, while files below (e.g. /usr/lib64/goffice/0.10/plugins/gchemutils/ gchemutils.so) have mode 755, OK.

All this taken together makes it impossible for a normal user to install gchemutils. If that option is available, the "make install" command can be run as superuser, and then gchemutils executables are installed in the correct place (although they belong to root, group root).

I am not sure if the installation can be made less dependent on the user status. Alternatively, the rpm provided for libgoffice should not use the access bit default for directories. I am not sure if that can be changed, though.
