The 'jumps to first item' bug has been fixed. A workaround on the former is to mark it as unread (right click on the item title).

Polling (automatically or manually) causes the first article in the feed to be selected, marking it as read. This is particularly bad when leaving Straw minimized for a while - when you come back, all articles may be read even though the user hasn't read them. It's also bad if Straw starts polling while you're reading because it will jump to the first item in the active feed.
