When I try to submit this with attached files, I get a meaningless error message (Access to the file was denied

...so I'll try putting everything here...
Description:
I've noticed these apparently random crashes for a long time, but since they aren't reproducible (to my knowledge), I've had to ignore them. This morning at 09:31 thunar crashed and sent an error report; however, I noticed information that I don't believe was submitted with the crash report. The last 6 lines shown by entering dmesg are:
[   32.913053] VBoxNetFlt: Successfully started.
[   32.932073] VBoxNetAdp: Successfully started.
[   32.947035] VBoxPciLinuxInit
[   32.958455] vboxpci: IOMMU not found (not registered)
[  348.637625] show_signal_msg: 27 callbacks suppressed
[  348.637634] Thunar[3038]: segfault at 0 ip 00007f8659b582fa sp 00007ffc111022e8 error 4 in libc-2.23.so[7f8659acf000+1c0000]

There is reference to the crash in apport.log (Thunar is not listed at bug.freedesktop.org; hence I'm reporting this here, but I'll probably have to somehow report it there as well because of the apport.log reference to "org.freedesktop...")

There is a reference to the crash in syslog, 5th line from the top.

What I did before the crash: Started Thunar by clicking the File Manager button on my Panel (the command is: exo-open --launch FileManager %u ). I navigated to Desktop in the Sidepane tree, selected the (not empty) folder Crash Info (with a space) in the right panel showing the contents of Desktop, pressed F2, changed the name to Crashes, and pressed Enter. Instead of immediately exited the edit filename mode, there was a delay of a few seconds, and then Thunar disappeared and crash reporting began. That's all, and Thunar disappearing is how these apparently random crashes always end. I have renamed many files with Thunar; sometimes it crashes, normally it doesn't.
