Gnoppix Version: 0.5.4.1
Downloaded using 56K modem. md5sum is OK.

My PC: IBM APTIVA, E Series 140, 333MHz, 156MB Ram, 4G HD

I boot Gnoppix using the following:

creadtiv-text vga=nprmal lang=us

At boot I get the following message
modprobe error: Chip SiS 5597 Not Found

This is my VideoCard on my Mother Board. Video memory 4096MB

Since this is not detected, it appears that Gnoppix doesn't load well or appear on my screen. Soon after all the boot messages are over, the screen goes blank then a broad multi-colored band of 4cms approx. fills the top portion of my screen. The rest of the screen is blank. In this state the loading freezes.

The same error message appears to me when I use Damn Small Linux. However, Knoppix 3.2 loads very well. Please assist.

Thanks.

Vijay
