Similar to Bug 6175
MGA G200 video card identified correctly in initialisation.
Followed by cannot modprobe "char-major-10-134" (as per 6175)
Second time I tried, the Xserver dialog came up in English!
The main error was 'unable to find module mga_hal'
(Knoppix 3.3 also failed in a similar fashion trying to start X, but I did not check error logs)
Odd, since I currently run Debian Woody on this machine!

Then I was left with a terminal with black text on a dark grey background, and apparently German kbd driver on a US kbd where I was not able to find '>' to redirect error messages to a file. Perhaps someone can figure out how to get this character.

I can provide the Xserver error messages and the config file from Gnoppix and my working Debian. If these would help,
bmward at myrealbox dot com.

I hope this helps the project succeed.
