I am having the same problem, running straw 0.22 under KDE 3.1 in Mandrake Linux 9.2. Specifically, I am using the straw-0.22.1-1mdk package. I changed the order of my DNS servers in resolv.conf, as suggested earlier, and it solves the problem. HOWEVER, when I restart my network connection, one of the Mandrake daemons resets the 1st DNS server as 127.0.0.1, so Straw is screwed again. I setting up straw to fall back to the second and third DNS server entries.

Are you sure you didn't by mistake change anything in the "Network Proxy Configuration" in GNOME.

I had a similar problem (new feeds downloaded, poll for new articles fail) and it turned out i had by mistake changed from "Direct internet connection" to "Manual proxy configuration" without doing any configuration or actually needing a proxy.

I had the problem. Looks like the first dns in resolv.conf did not respond. I changed that it now works.

So I suspect the bug is that straw, when polling news, only uses the first entry in resolv.conf.

I use 0.22.1 from Debian/sid PowerPC

We need more info on this. Does it still occur? Any messages on the console?

When new feeds are added, the latest articles are downloaded. However, subsequent attempts to poll for new articles fail with:
An error occured while reading this feed:
Host name lookup failed
This has happened on both 0.20 and 0.21 when installing from the .deb files available from the debian archives, and seems to affect all feeds I have tried, including bbc.co.uk. thinkgeek.com, theregister.co.uk, theonion.com and slashdot.org
