IWBN to have IDN (RFC 3490) support in Zonecheck. This means accepting IDN on the command line (in locale encoding) and translating them to ACE before the test, then translating the ACE (xn--something), for instance in NS records, to Unicode and then locale before displaying.

I don't know if there is a Ruby library to do so (in Python, IDN support is included from version 2.3). The best C library, IMHO, is GNU libidn http://www.josefsson.org/libidn/, which can probably be called from Ruby.

I just IDNized echoping http://echoping.sourceforge.net/ and it is quite simple to do (although echoping only needs to translate from locale to ACE, not the other way around).

nescafé.pl is a zone you can use for first testings (it has no IDN NS records, though).
