Right, it's ADNS, the asynchronous dns resolver library, that's doing it. UDP is used for talking to DNS servers, and apparently ADNS QueryEngine object keeps the port open all the time, at least after the first query. I suppose we could destroy the QueryEngine object every now and then, but I doubt that would be of much benefit. Closing this bug.

Good question. It's not the same port over here - it was 32795, after restart 32797. I'd have thought it was Orbit or something, but it seems no other Gnome program is doing this. I'll investigate.

I really love Straw. It saves me a lot of time each morning so I can sleep longer.

But I just ran GNU Tiger and it said that Straw was listening for UDPconnections on port 32845. I'm not exactly a network specialist or anything but this sounded kinda weird to me. Netstat also confirms thatthe port is opened. Could you clarify why this port is open (or needed)?
