Closing ... looks like a programmer communication problem and the originator did not respond with requested additional information.

Hi,

I'm using an avr-isp with the same firmware, and the same revision of Mega169 (avr-isp and STK500 are almost exactly the same in terms of programming interface) and can not duplicate the sync problems. I do get the PAGEL and BS2 error though.

Did you set the clock on your STK500 to the same speed that you are running the AtMega169 off (either set it to the internal osc frequency, or change the fuses in the mega169 so it uses the external oscillator on the STK500).

Also can you try your STK500 on another computer, both with avrdude and AVR Studio? With my half-working STK500 I get sync errors (the programming interface or my STK500 isn't and since I've got an avr-isp I've been too lazy to fix it). If it works perfectly from AVR Studio (hopefully running on that same hardware you are using avrdude) then you know it is likely avrdude trouble.

Regards,

-Colin

I recently upgraded my firmware on my stk500 to v1.15, and I get various errors when I try to do various things to it.

I have an stk500 with an stk502, and the ATmega169 (rev A)

I've made a small log (see attached), that is a combination of outputs when attempting to do simple erases, or signature byte / parameter reads.

I hope this information is enough. I am using the default programmer config of avrdude. If you need any more info, then I can provide it.

Rgds,
Shobhan
