it would probally be good to write a PLFWrite, where one can build up the tree via function calls and dump it later, that way we could get more independent from xml and add things like indention easily

The current XML dumping is done without carring much about the indention of the code, so it looks rather ugly in some situations. Since the writing is just dumping the code to an ofstream, it won't be that easy to fix that, maybe a 'prefix' parameter with the correct number of spaces would help. Or dumping to an XML-Tree directly.
